Benefit Overview
- Coverage can be purchased in increments of $50,000, up to $2 million for members under age 65 along with their spouse/domestic partner.
- Volume discounts are available for the amount of $250,000 or higher.
- Accelerated Death Benefit allows the insured to request a one-time advance payment of 50% of inforce coverage if the insured person is diagnosed as terminally ill.*
- 30-Day Free Look** period to review the terms of your certificate and return it, without claim, for a full refund of your premium contribution.
* Receipt of the accelerated death benefit may affect your eligibility for public assistance programs and may be taxable. Prior to applying to receive such benefits you should consult with the appropriate social service agency and seek the advice of tax counsel. To qualify you must provide proof of terminal illness and have a life expectancy of 12 months or less. The death benefit will be reduced by 50%. Your premium payments will continue based on the original coverage amount.
** 30-Day Free Look - Once coverage is approved, you will be sent a Certificate of Insurance summarizing benefits. If you are not completely satisfied with the terms of the Certificate, you may return it, without claim, within 30 days for a full refund. Your coverage will then be invalidated.
